Yerba mate is made from the naturally caffeinated leaves of the South American holly tree. It has the same  healthful chemical found in tea, chocolate, and coffee, but it's not acid-forming and creates uplifting emotions after ingestion. Mate also contains potassium, Magnesium, amino acids, and powerful antioxidants.
